Object images are obtained using miniature internal X-ray generator with 120 keV energy that creates raster scanning X-ray beam to scan objects of interest. When moving HBI-120 handheld device over object, two-dimensional backscatter X-ray image is displayed in real time on HBI-120 high-resolution transflective touch LCD and stored in device memory.
Older portable transmission X-ray systems require X-ray source module and detector module to be placed and aligned (with source on one side of object and detector on other side) before X-ray image can be taken. Sometimes it’s impossible to place source and detector where needed for good X-ray image; and impossible to obtain transmission X-rays close to ground.
